About the event

This short course introduces the classical technique of using charcoal and white chalk on toned paper to capture likeness through value and form. Students will learn to tone their own paper by hand and explore the interplay of light and shadow to create a fully rendered portrait from a live model. With demonstrations and guided practice, the course emphasizes proportion, edge control, and tonal relationships rooted in the academic approach. By the end, each student will complete a finished drawing and take home their toned paper either immediately or next day.

Instructor: Allison Baxter

There will be a material fee of $15.00 due to the instructor the day of the class.
